Since its founding, RECON has helped both public and private sector clients in the solid and hazardous waste management sector. We help our clients with permitting, developing waste management plans, landfill design, construction, capping, and hazardous waste remediation. We have worked with clients across the United States and Canada as well as national and state governments and regulatory organizations.
We have been listed as one of Engineering New Record’s Top 20 Hazardous Waste Contractors for more than a decade. Projects have been completed under the Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA), the compressive Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) regulations and United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), United States Corps of Engineers (USACE), and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) oversight, as well as hundreds of state and local agencies.
RECON has constructed 150 landfill cells and installed over 1,250 acres of landfill caps. These structures have included compacted clay, HDPE liner, geotextile, geocomposites, soil, and vegetative cover. Cell construction and final containment system covers are executed with off-road and on-road owned equipment.
In closing pits and ponds, RECON can install wick drains to promote consolidation before placing the geotextile fabric and/or drainage layer over the material. We are also experienced in using excavation (mechanical or dredging) techniques to close a pit or pond.
