RECON was contracted to excavate and remove the hydrocarbon impacted soils in response to a historical release in a major oil field company’s pipeline. Over the course of the project, RECON:
- Removed and stockpiled approximately 13,000 tons of clean overburden material on the site for reuse.
- Removed impacted soil using the “surgical excavation” technique and stockpiled in a different area on the site.
- Replaced the overburden material and an additional 32,000 cubic yards of imported fill once all the material was excavated and the excavation considered clean.
- Reduced cost of project by suggesting removing only the soil over the regulatory limits.
